Indian Space Programme Sets Ambitious Goals for 2025

India’s space programme, led by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has set ambitious goals for 2025, further solidifying its position as a key player in global space exploration. With multiple groundbreaking missions lined up, the year promises to be a transformative one for India’s space capabilities.

One of the most anticipated events is the launch of Gaganyaan-1, the first uncrewed test flight of India’s human spaceflight programme. Scheduled for March 2025, this mission will deploy the Gaganyaan spacecraft into low Earth orbit. The spacecraft will carry Vyommitra, a humanoid robot, to simulate human functions and validate critical systems such as life support, paving the way for future crewed missions.

Another significant achievement this year is ISRO’s successful execution of the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDeX), where two small satellites docked in orbit. This feat positions India among a select group of nations with advanced capabilities in on-orbit satellite servicing and space station assembly, signaling a major leap in technological expertise.

Additionally, ISRO is preparing for the ExoWorlds mission, a collaborative effort to study the atmospheres of exoplanets. This mission aims to enhance scientific understanding of distant worlds and contribute valuable data to the global astronomical community.

The Indian government has further bolstered its space ambitions by supporting startups and establishing a regulatory framework to foster innovation in areas such as small satellite development and space analytics.
