Indian Railways to Launch Four New Vande Bharat Trains

Indian Railways has approved the introduction of four additional Vande Bharat Express trains to enhance connectivity across India. With these additions, the total services are set to increase to 164. The new train routes will include: Bengaluru (KSR) to Ernakulam in the south, Firozpur Cantt to Delhi in the north-west, Varanasi to Khajuraho linking Uttar Pradesh with Madhya Pradesh, and Lucknow to Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Service Details and Significance

These routes have been selected to bolster inter-state travel and offer faster options on key corridors. The Bengaluru–Ernakulam service will create a direct semi-high-speed link between Karnataka and Kerala, while the Firozpur Cantt–Delhi route strengthens Punjab’s access to the national capital. The Varanasi–Khajuraho connection brings a significant tourist-town link, and Lucknow–Saharanpur improves intra-state connectivity in Uttar Pradesh. Railway officials say introduction of these services reflects growing demand for modern train travel across longer distances and diverse regions.

Impact and Outlook

Rail industry experts say the new Vande Bharat trains will not only cut travel time but also support regional economic growth by improving mobility. However, successful roll-out will depend on infrastructure readiness—such as track quality, station facilities and maintenance support. For passengers, the trains will offer upgraded amenities and faster journey times compared with conventional express services. Further announcements on timings, stoppages and fare structures are expected soon.
