Indian Defence Firm Partners with Israeli Company to Introduce Advanced Drone Camera Technology

Paras Defence and Space Technologies, a leading Indian defense firm, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Israeli company MicroCon Vision, a subsidiary of the Rafael Group. The agreement designates Paras Defence as the exclusive supplier of advanced drone camera systems in India, marking a significant step toward upgrading the nation’s surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.

Focus on Cost-Effective, Indigenous Production

One of the key goals of the partnership is to localize the production of drone camera technology, reducing India’s dependency on imports. The companies aim to incorporate indigenous components into ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) payloads, aligning with India’s broader push for defense self-reliance.

Under this collaboration, Paras Defence will introduce two models of advanced drone cameras that are currently imported at costs of around ₹20 lakh and ₹40 lakh per unit. With localized production and Israeli technology, the firm expects to bring down prices by nearly 50–60%, making high-end surveillance tools more affordable for Indian defense forces and civilian applications.

Boost for India’s Defense and Surveillance Ecosystem

The partnership represents a crucial advancement in India-Israel defense ties, known for their strong cooperation in strategic and security domains. By focusing on affordability and domestic integration, this initiative supports India’s long-term goal of becoming a global defense manufacturing hub.

Beyond defense, these drone camera technologies can benefit homeland security, disaster response, infrastructure monitoring, and commercial drone operations. The availability of cost-effective, high-performance imaging systems is expected to expand the use of drones in both strategic and civilian sectors.

This collaboration not only delivers cutting-edge capabilities but also reinforces the vision of ‘Make in India’ by promoting technology transfer and local assembly, while ensuring India remains at the forefront of modern defense innovation.
