India to Host UN Peacekeepers Conclave in New Delhi
India will host the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries (UNTCC) Chiefs’ Conclave in New Delhi from October 14 to 16, 2025. Over 30 countries that provide troops to UN missions are expected to participate in the three-day event.
Pakistan and China Excluded
Significantly, Pakistan and China have not been invited to the conclave, while neighbours like Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka are among the attendees. The exclusion is seen as a strong diplomatic message against both countries amid ongoing tensions.
India’s Role in UN Peacekeeping
India remains one of the largest contributors of troops to UN peacekeeping operations. The conclave will focus on sharing best practices, enhancing interoperability, and highlighting the use of technology to improve peacekeeping effectiveness.
On Deployments to Ukraine and Gaza
A senior Indian defence official clarified that the possibility of UN peacekeepers being deployed to Ukraine or Gaza is “highly unlikely” without a clear Security Council mandate and consensus. This reflects India’s cautious approach to expanding missions into active conflict zones.
Outcomes and Objectives
The conclave will feature plenary discussions, bilateral meetings, and an exhibition of India’s defence and peacekeeping innovations. It aims to give troop-contributing nations greater voice in UN decision-making and strengthen partnerships for global security.
