India to Host Asian Shooting Olympic Qualifier

India will host the Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship next year, a major continental shooting event that will also serve as an Olympic qualifying competition for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

Olympic Quota Places at Stake

The championship will offer eight Olympic quota places, making it a crucial event for shooters across Asia. The competition is part of the official qualification pathway approved by international and Asian shooting bodies for the next Olympic cycle.

Venue and Organisers

The event is scheduled to be held in New Delhi, with dates to be announced later. Hosting rights were confirmed to the National Rifle Association of India, which will be responsible for organising the championship in coordination with the Asian Shooting Confederation.

Boost for Indian Shooting

Officials said hosting the Asian Championship strengthens India’s position as a key destination for international shooting events. It is also expected to benefit Indian shooters by giving them the opportunity to compete for Olympic quota places on home soil.

The event adds to India’s expanding role in global shooting, with the country set to host multiple international competitions in the lead-up to the Los Angeles Olympics.
