India to Evacuate Nationals from Israel Amid Escalating Conflict
India has initiated a comprehensive evacuation plan for its citizens in Israel as the Israel‑Iran conflict deepens and missile strikes intensify. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has strongly urged all Indian nationals currently in Israel to promptly register with the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv and follow updates closely. These preparatory steps are being taken while contingency measures and extraction routes are swiftly activated.
India Evacuation
The MEA statement highlighted that early registration is essential to enable smooth coordination and prioritisation when executing evacuation plans. While no Indian citizen has been injured so far, the heightened confrontation between Israel and Iran—and Iran’s ballistic missile response—have significantly escalated risks faced by foreign nationals. To ensure timely assistance, the Indian embassy is maintaining continuous communication with its citizens and monitoring developments on ground, securing options such as chartered flights and sea routes.
Citizen Safety
Evacuation plans are being organised in stages. Initial stages involve identifying vulnerable individuals—such as students, medical travellers, elderly, and women. Further stages are expected to coordinate departures through intermediate countries like Cyprus, Greece, or Turkey, depending on flight availability and security conditions. The Embassy’s alert emphasises flexibility, urging Indians to avoid non-essential travel to areas under threat and to remain close to safe zones.
Israel Crisis
This is not India’s first response to unrest in the Middle East; similar evacuation operations were conducted during conflicts in 2006, 2014, and 2021. The current situation, however, is more volatile due to recent Iranian missile launches in response to Israeli strikes on Iranian soil. The MEA reaffirmed its commitment to the **“safety and well-being” ** of its citizens and will provide real-time advisories via social media and diplomatic channels.
Residents in Israel are encouraged to maintain readiness, keep essential documents accessible, and register details with the embassy—implementation of evacuation will depend on operational feasibility and threat levels. Though still in preparatory phases, large-scale repatriation efforts could commence within days if the conflict escalates further.
