India Successfully Tests Drone-Launched Precision Missile

India has successfully tested the UAV-Launched Precision Guided Missile (ULPGM)-V3, marking a significant step forward in its defense capabilities. The missile was tested by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) at the National Open Area Range (NOAR) in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, on July 25, 2025.

Key Features of the ULPGM-V3

The ULPGM-V3 missile is an advanced version designed to be launched from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This missile is equipped with a high-definition dual-channel seeker, allowing it to strike targets with high precision, even in difficult terrains like plains and mountainous regions. It also features day-and-night operational capabilities, enabling its use in a variety of weather conditions.

The missile is lightweight and includes several modular warhead options, such as anti-armour, penetration-cum-blast, and pre-fragmentation warheads, making it versatile for different kinds of targets. These upgrades give it the ability to destroy tanks, bunkers, and other heavily fortified structures.

Military and Strategic Significance

This test represents a major boost to India’s military modernization efforts.
