India Slams Pakistan Over Mujahideen Admission
India has accused Pakistan of admitting that it trained and armed Mujahideen for operations against India, following remarks by a senior aide to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif amid escalating unrest in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
India Cites Pakistan Mujahideen Admission
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal referred to comments made by Rana Sanaullah, the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Political Affairs.
During a television interview, Sanaullah acknowledged that Pakistan had previously trained people as Mujahideen and sent them to fight, adding that they had now become a threat to the Pakistani state.
India described the statement as an open admission that the Pakistani establishment had trained, funded and armed militants before sending them into India. New Delhi has repeatedly accused Islamabad of supporting cross-border terrorism, an allegation Pakistan has consistently denied.
India Condemns PoK Protest Crackdown
India also criticised the use of force against protesters in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Jaiswal alleged that more than 40 civilians had been killed and many others seriously injured during the crackdown.
Independent casualty estimates have varied because of communication restrictions and limited access to affected areas. Protest groups have accused security forces of firing on civilians, while Pakistani authorities have said armed elements infiltrated the demonstrations and attacked personnel.
The unrest has been driven by allegations of electoral manipulation, political interference, economic neglect and restrictions on democratic rights.
India Seeks International Scrutiny of Pakistan
India criticised Pakistan’s recent elections in the occupied region, describing them as an attempt to legitimise Islamabad’s control. New Delhi said the protests represented a rejection of the Pakistani establishment.
Civil society and political organisations in the region have sought an independent investigation into the reported killings. They have also appealed to international institutions and governments to examine alleged human rights violations.
India urged the international community to scrutinise Pakistan’s actions and hold it accountable for abuses against civilians.
