India Says Pakistan Suffers Over 100 Losses in Sindoor
Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, Director General of Military Operations, has said that over 100 Pakistani casualties took place along the Line of Control (LoC) during Operation Sindoor. He cited the figure by pointing to the number of posthumous awards announced by Pakistan.
The announcement was made in the context of India’s “decisive response” to the Pahalgam terrorist attack of April 22, 2025, in which 26 civilians were killed.
Operation Sindoor Context
Launched on May 7, 2025, Operation Sindoor targeted terror infrastructure inside Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK). Indian officials maintained that only militant camps were struck, avoiding Pakistani Army positions.
Lt Gen Ghai stressed that Pakistan’s own actions — particularly the posthumous recognition of its personnel — indirectly confirmed India’s assessment of heavy losses across the border.
Reactions & Unverified Claims
Pakistan has not officially acknowledged the casualty figures, nor has there been independent verification. Analysts note that while such estimates are difficult to confirm, the statement reflects India’s narrative of a firm retaliatory stance after the Pahalgam attack.
