India Rejects Bangladesh Charge Over Hasina Presser
India has rejected Bangladesh’s allegation that New Delhi facilitated or endorsed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent media interaction, saying the Indian government had no role in organising the event and does not endorse statements made during it.

The Ministry of External Affairs said the media interaction was organised independently by the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia, a private media organisation.
New Delhi stressed that the Government of India neither organised nor facilitated the event and said Hasina’s remarks should not be interpreted as reflecting India’s official position.
The MEA also made it clear that India does not endorse statements made during the interaction.
Bangladesh Objects to Hasina Presser
Bangladesh criticised the August 6 event in New Delhi and objected to Hasina being allowed to address journalists from Indian soil.
Dhaka said it had raised concerns with India before the event and argued that such public appearances could complicate efforts to improve bilateral relations.
Bangladesh also objected to remarks made by Hasina about the country’s political situation and developments following the 2024 uprising that ended her government.
Hasina Remains Key India-Bangladesh Issue
Sheikh Hasina has remained in India since leaving Bangladesh in August 2024 following the collapse of her government.
Her continued presence has emerged as a sensitive issue in India-Bangladesh relations. Bangladesh has sought her return, while India has maintained that related matters are being handled through established legal and diplomatic procedures.
The latest exchange adds another point of friction between New Delhi and Dhaka as both sides navigate a difficult phase in bilateral ties.
