India Rebuts Pakistan at UN Over Operation Sindoor Claims
New York — India strongly rejected Pakistan’s account of Operation Sindoor during a United Nations Security Council session. India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish, said Pakistan’s narrative on the 2025 military conflict with India was “false and self-serving” and aimed at harming India’s interests and reputation.
Dispute Over Operation Sindoor
Operation Sindoor refers to India’s military action in May 2025 in response to a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that killed civilians. India has maintained that the operation targeting terrorism-related infrastructure was measured and aimed solely at dismantling militant networks, and that accusations by Pakistan misrepresent the facts and broader context of the incident.
At the Security Council, Harish said that Pakistan continued to threaten attacks against India until both militaries agreed to a ceasefire on 10 May 2025. He criticised remarks by Pakistan’s envoy and stressed that India’s position on counter-terrorism and regional peace remained firm.
The exchange at the UN highlights ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two countries over the interpretation and portrayal of the 2025 India-Pakistan crisis.
