India Reaffirms Jammu and Kashmir as Integral Part Amid UN Dispute
India has firmly dismissed Pakistan’s remarks regarding Jammu and Kashmir during a session of the United Nations General Assembly, reiterating its consistent stance that the region “will always be an integral part of India.” The statement came in response to Pakistan raising the Kashmir issue once again in an international forum, a move India has repeatedly criticized as unfounded and politically motivated.
Rejection of Unwarranted Allegations
India emphasized that Pakistan’s attempts to internationalize the Jammu and Kashmir issue distort historical facts and legal realities. The Indian delegation pointed out that the people of Jammu and Kashmir actively participate in the country’s democratic process, including free and fair elections. It was highlighted that residents enjoy the same constitutional rights as all Indian citizens.
India also stated that the region’s integration is a settled matter and not open to external debate. The remarks asserted that continuing efforts by Pakistan to propagate misinformation serve only to distract from more pressing global and regional issues.
Call for Focus on Domestic Challenges
India used the opportunity to urge Pakistan to prioritize addressing its internal concerns such as terrorism, religious intolerance, and economic instability, rather than interfering in the internal matters of its neighbors. India reiterated that peace and stability in South Asia require sincerity and accountability, particularly in confronting cross-border terrorism.
The Indian representative also underscored that such persistent attempts by Pakistan to raise Jammu and Kashmir at the UN do not contribute to constructive dialogue but rather undermine regional cooperation.
India’s firm rebuttal reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting its territorial integrity and counters any external efforts to challenge its sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir. The message from the Indian delegation was clear—Jammu and Kashmir is, and will remain, an inseparable part of India.
