India Plans Barak-8 Air Defence by 2035
India has unveiled a strategic defence plan aiming to cover all strategic facilities across the country with multi-layered air security by 2035. As part of this plan, the Barak-8 medium-range surface-to-air missile system will be integrated.

The Barak-8 is an Israeli-Indian joint development. It is designed to intercept aerial threats including aircraft, helicopters, anti-ship missiles, and UAVs. It provides both point and area defence capabilities, making it a key element of layered protection.

India’s plan seeks full security coverage for strategic installations such as military bases, nuclear sites, ports, and key infrastructure. The move aims to build “many-layered” defence zones — combining early warning radars, missile shield systems, and air defence batteries to secure vital assets.
