“India-Pakistan Not a Rivalry Anymore,” Says Suryakumar Yadav
After guiding India to a six-wicket win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super Four clash in Dubai, captain Suryakumar Yadav gave a bold assessment of the historic cricketing contest. Speaking at the post-match press interaction, he said that India and Pakistan can no longer be called rivals in cricketing terms, pointing to the one-sided nature of recent results. He explained that for a contest to be considered a rivalry, there must be a near balance in wins and losses, which is not the case between the two sides.
Head-to-Head Record
India’s latest win extended their dominance in T20Is against Pakistan to 11 victories in 15 matches, with only three defeats and one tied result. Yadav said such numbers clearly show India’s superiority and prove that the so-called rivalry has lost its edge. He compared the situation to more even matchups, where the margin of victories is narrow and unpredictable.
Fielding Lapses Noted
Despite the strong performance, Yadav admitted that India’s fielding left much to be desired, as the team dropped four catches. He confirmed that the fielding coach has already pulled up the players involved and asked them to report for additional drills. Looking ahead, Yadav expressed confidence that the team would tighten its performance before facing Bangladesh in their next Super Four game.
