India on Track to Become Third-Largest Economy: President Murmu
President Droupadi Murmu said India is steadily progressing towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy despite ongoing global economic uncertainty. Addressing the nation ahead of Republic Day, she said India continues to remain among the fastest-growing major economies, supported by strong fundamentals and policy stability.
Growth Drivers and Outlook
The President said sustained investment in infrastructure, manufacturing, and digital public systems has strengthened India’s growth trajectory. She noted that structural reforms, focus on self-reliance, and expansion of domestic consumption have helped the economy absorb external shocks. India is currently among the top four economies globally by nominal GDP, with projections indicating further upward movement in the coming years.
Murmu also highlighted the role of India’s large youth population, innovation ecosystem, and expanding global engagement in driving long-term growth. She said economic progress must remain inclusive and aligned with constitutional values.
Republic Day is observed annually on January 26 to mark the adoption of the Constitution of India in 1950. The President urged citizens to uphold democratic principles while contributing to national development.
