India–Indonesia Deepen Defence Industry Ties
India and Indonesia have agreed to strengthen defence-industrial cooperation after high-level talks in New Delhi. The meeting, part of the India–Indonesia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue, focused on expanding strategic collaboration and boosting long-term defence partnerships between the two nations. Both sides reiterated their commitment to a stable and rules-based Indo-Pacific.
Joint Defence Industry Committee Proposed
A major outcome of the dialogue was the proposal to create a Joint Defence Industry Cooperation Committee. The panel will work on technology transfer, joint research and development, supply-chain integration, and aligning certification standards. India aims to support Indonesia’s defence modernisation through manufacturing expertise and industry partnerships.
Wider Strategic Cooperation
The discussions also covered maritime security, cyber capabilities, operational readiness, and expanding joint military exercises. Both sides stressed the importance of cooperation in the Indian Ocean region, where joint efforts could help enhance security and interoperability.
Areas Of Collaboration
Future cooperation may include submarine technology, logistics support, defence medicine, and broader industry partnerships. Officials said the goal is to deepen defence production ties while improving regional security coordination.
