In a boost to domestic chip manufacturing, Prime Minister Modi’s Cabinet approved four new semiconductor projects under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), with a combined investment of approximately ₹4,600 crore.
Project Highlights and Locations
These projects, proposed by companies like SiCSem, Continental Device India (CDIL), 3D Glass Solutions, and ASIP Technologies, will be set up across India:

- One in Andhra Pradhesh
The new approvals bring India’s total ISM portfolio to 10 projects across six states, with cumulative investment reaching around ₹1.6 lakh crore.
Strategic Impact and Employment
The ₹4,600 crore package is expected to directly generate over 2,000 skilled jobs and stimulate broader economic activity through added investments in chip production, packaging, and advanced materials. These steps are part of a broader push to build a robust domestic semiconductor ecosystem and reduce reliance on imports.
