India Blocks 16 Pak YouTube Channels, Warns BBC Over J&K
In a strong move to counter misinformation following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian government has blocked 16 Pakistani YouTube channels accused of spreading provocative and communally sensitive content. The decision reflects India’s intensified focus on maintaining internal security and combating narratives aimed at destabilizing the country.
The blocked YouTube channels had garnered over 63 million subscribers collectively and were found disseminating distorted reports, misleading claims about Jammu and Kashmir, and anti-India propaganda targeting the Indian Army and security forces. Officials stated that the channels were systematically attempting to stoke communal unrest and undermine the nation’s fight against terrorism.
Pakistani YouTube Ban Intensifies Digital Crackdown
The action to ban the Pakistani channels came after close monitoring and recommendations from security and intelligence agencies. Authorities emphasized that misinformation campaigns, especially from foreign soil, will not be tolerated and swift action would be taken against any content threatening national sovereignty or inciting disharmony.

Officials objected to the framing, terminology, and perceived biases present in BBC’s coverage of the incident, stating that such reporting misleads international audiences and fails to portray the reality of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in Kashmir.
Authorities conveyed that responsible journalism is crucial during sensitive times, and warned of consequences if repeated instances of misreporting continue from global media houses.

The recent Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people including a Nepalese national, has catalyzed a series of stringent measures by the Indian government, both domestically and internationally.
