The Indian men’s junior hockey team produced a stunning comeback to defeat Argentina 4–2 and secure the bronze medal at the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup 2025. Playing in front of home supporters in Tamil Nadu, India overturned a two-goal deficit with a dominant final-quarter performance.
Four Goals Seal Sensational Turnaround
Argentina led 2–0 until the 49th minute before India began their rally. Ankit Pal struck first to narrow the gap, followed moments later by Manmeet Singh, who levelled the score. A composed penalty stroke by Shardanand Tiwari put India ahead, and Anmol Ekka added the fourth to complete the comeback.
India Return to Podium After Nine Years
The win marks India’s first Junior World Cup medal in nearly a decade, ending a long podium drought. The home crowd celebrated the team’s resilience after their earlier semifinal loss to Germany.
Germany Clinch World Title
In the final, Germany defeated Spain in a penalty shootout to clinch the 2025 Junior World Cup title, adding another trophy to their strong record at youth-level hockey.
India’s Tournament Journey
Despite a heavy semifinal defeat, India displayed strong attacking flair throughout the tournament and concluded their campaign on a high with a convincing win in the bronze playoff.
