India Backs Palestinians, Welcomes Gaza Peace Plan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 31, 2026 reiterated India’s continued support for the people of Palestine during talks with a delegation of Arab foreign ministers and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. The meeting took place in New Delhi on the sidelines of the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

Support for Peace Efforts

Modi said India welcomes ongoing peace efforts aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza and supports initiatives that promote regional peace and stability. He highlighted India’s long-standing position in favour of a two-state solution, where a sovereign and viable Palestinian state co-exists peacefully with Israel within internationally recognised borders.

Strengthening India-Arab Ties

Modi also underscored the deep and historic ties between India and the Arab world and expressed appreciation for the role of the Arab League in peace efforts. The meeting included discussions on enhancing cooperation in trade, energy, technology, and other priority areas.
