India and Indonesia Finalize $450 Million BrahMos Missile Deal with Technology Transfer
India and Indonesia have finalized a $450 million agreement for the sale of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, marking a significant advancement in defense cooperation between the two nations. This deal includes a Transfer of Technology (ToT) provision, enabling Indonesia to locally manufacture components of the missile system, thereby bolstering its domestic defense industry.
The BrahMos missile, renowned for its speed and precision, has a range exceeding 290 kilometers and can be deployed in various configurations, including surface-to-surface, air-to-surface, and submarine-launched versions. The inclusion of ToT in this agreement signifies India’s confidence in its defense capabilities and its commitment to sharing expertise with trusted partners.
This collaboration is expected to enhance strategic ties between India and Indonesia, particularly in the context of regional security dynamics in the Indo-Pacific region. Both countries aim to strengthen their defense postures amid evolving security challenges.
