IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Warnings for 10 States Until October 16

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for 10 states, forecasting significant downpours from October 12 to 16. A yellow alert has been placed for several states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh, and Gujarat.

Southwest Monsoon Withdrawal and Rain Forecast

According to IMD, the Southwest Monsoon is expected to withdraw from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Maharashtra, Bihar, and Jharkhand within the next two days. Despite the withdrawal, heavy rainfall is predicted in many regions. The weather department has predicted “isolated heavy rainfall” for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until October 15, with very heavy rain expected on October 13 and 14. Kerala is likely to experience heavy rain over the next six days, while Andhra Pradesh will see downpours between October 14 and 16.

Rainfall Alert in Other States

Karnataka is expected to face heavy rains until October 12 and again on October 14, while Arunachal Pradesh will experience isolated showers until October 12. Assam and Meghalaya are also forecasted to witness heavy rain on October 11. In Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Saurashtra, and Kutch, rainfall is expected until October 13, with isolated heavy showers on October 11.

Delhi Weather Update

In contrast, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Delhi has predicted mainly clear skies until October 16, with temperatures in the capital expected to reach a maximum of 35°C and a minimum of 22°C. The Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi is recorded at 114 in the ‘moderate’ category, while Mumbai’s AQI stands at a ‘satisfactory’ 57, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Residents in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant and follow local advisories for safety during this period of heavy rainfall.
