ICC Issues Ultimatum to Bangladesh for T20 World Cup
The International Cricket Council has asked Bangladesh to confirm its participation in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, warning that failure to comply with the tournament schedule could lead to the team being replaced. The global body has made it clear that Bangladesh must agree to play its designated matches in India.
Venue Dispute Emerges
Bangladesh’s group-stage fixtures for the T20 World Cup are scheduled to be held in India. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has raised concerns over travelling to India and has sought alternative arrangements, including requests to move matches to another country. The ICC has so far rejected any changes, stating that the schedule has been finalised.
Risk of Replacement
The ICC has indicated that if Bangladesh refuses to participate under the existing conditions, it could be dropped from the tournament. Officials said contingency plans are in place to replace any team that withdraws, as the event preparations are already at an advanced stage.
Tournament Preparations Continue
The T20 World Cup is set to begin in early 2026, and the ICC has urged all participating teams to adhere to the agreed schedule. A final decision from Bangladesh is awaited, with the deadline approaching.
