ICC Acts Over PCB Filming Andy Pycroft Video
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reprimanded the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for violating tournament rules during Asia Cup 2025. One major allegation is that PCB recorded a meeting in the Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA) with match referee Andy Pycroft—a restricted zone where recordings and cameras are not allowed.
Match Delay and Protest
Before Pakistan’s match against UAE, players were delayed by about an hour. PCB raised objections, demanding that Pycroft be suspended from officiating, following a “handshake snub” incident in the earlier India-Pakistan match. The protest included players staying in their hotel rooms for some time.
Video Release vs. Regret
PCB shared a video—without audio—on social media, suggesting that Pycroft had apologised to the Pakistan captain and coach. The ICC says Pycroft expressed regret over a miscommunication in the handshake issue, not a full apology. The organisation is also monitoring claims that PCB misrepresented the nature of what happened.
Possible Sanctions Ahead
The ICC has formally written to the PCB citing violations of the PMOA regulations and “misconduct” in handling match protocols. Disciplinary actions are being considered, though no formal sanction has yet been announced.
