Hasina Accuses Yunus Government In Bangladesh
Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has strongly criticised the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus, describing the current situation in Bangladesh as chaotic and dangerous. Speaking from India, where she has been in exile since August 2024, Hasina claimed that democratic rights are suppressed and the country is facing widespread violence.
Calls For Political Action
Hasina accused the Yunus administration of failing to ensure security, protect minorities, and uphold constitutional freedoms. She urged Bangladeshis to unite against what she called a “puppet regime” and to push for restoration of democratic rule ahead of the February 12, 2026 national election.
Election Context And Tensions
The elections are set to proceed under the interim government, but Hasina’s party, the Awami League, has been banned from participating, intensifying political tensions. Critics of the interim administration have also raised concerns about political violence, attacks on journalists and protests in major cities.
