Haryana Allocates Portfolios: CM Nayab Saini Retains Home, Finance
The Haryana government allocated cabinet portfolios on Sunday, with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini retaining key departments, including home and finance.
This comes just three days after the new government was sworn in, marking the beginning of a fresh political term for the state.
Nayab Saini Retains 12 Key Portfolios
Chief Minister Nayab Saini will oversee a total of 12 portfolios, including home, finance, excise and taxation, and planning. He will also handle urban estates, information and public relations, law and legislative affairs, criminal investigation, and housing for all departments. His retention of these significant portfolios indicates a continuation of his central role in Haryana’s governance.
New Cabinet Assignments for Other Ministers
Several key ministers received important departments in the new cabinet allocation. Anil Vij, MLA from Ambala Cantt, was given the energy, transport, and labour portfolios. Notably, he held the home department under former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Arti Singh Rao was assigned the health department, along with medical education, research, and Ayush. Rao Narbir Singh will oversee industries, commerce, environment, forests, and wildlife, while Mahipal Dhanda was entrusted with school education.
Other notable assignments include Vipul Goel managing revenue, disaster management, and urban local bodies, and Shyam Singh Rana handling agriculture and farmers’ welfare. Krishan Kumar Bedi has been given the social justice and empowerment portfolio, while Shruti Choudhry will manage women and child development.
Grand Swearing-in Ceremony
The 54-year-old Saini was sworn in as Chief Minister during a grand ceremony in Panchkula on Thursday. The event was attended by NDA leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with thousands of people from across Haryana. Alongside Saini, 13 MLAs, including two women, took their oaths as part of the new Council of Ministers.
This new cabinet signals the government’s focus on key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and social justice, as it embarks on its new term in Haryana.
