Hamas Spokesman Abu Obeida Killed in Gaza Strike
Israel announced that it has killed Abu Obeida, the spokesperson for Hamas’s military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, in a targeted airstrike on Gaza City’s Rimal neighborhood. The Israel Defense Forces said the operation was aimed at dismantling Hamas’s propaganda and psychological warfare network ahead of a planned ground offensive.
Rising Tensions and No Ceasefire Plans
The strike came as Israel’s security cabinet met to review expanding military operations in Gaza City. Reports confirmed that ceasefire options were not discussed during the meeting. Instead, discussions focused on escalating operations in densely populated areas, despite mounting international appeals for restraint.
Humanitarian Toll and Displacement
The escalation has deepened the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Thousands of residents have been forced to flee from areas Israel declared “combat zones.” Hospitals continue to report rising casualties, including civilians caught in the strikes, while shortages of medical supplies and power are worsening the crisis.
