Hamas Says Resistance Will Continue Until Occupation Ends

Hamas on Friday reaffirmed that Palestinian resistance against Israel will continue until what it calls the “Israeli occupation” is fully dismantled. The group issued a statement declaring its commitment to continue armed struggle and diplomatic efforts in response to ongoing tensions and military operations in Gaza.

Statement from Hamas Leadership

A senior Hamas spokesperson stated that the group sees no alternative but resistance until “the full liberation of Palestinian land” is achieved. He emphasized that this includes not just Gaza, but also the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which Palestinians claim as part of their future state. The group reiterated that it views Israeli military actions as aggression and occupation, which they believe justifies their response through armed struggle.

Context of the Ongoing Conflict

The renewed statement comes amid a period of heightened conflict in the region. In recent weeks, Israeli Defense Forces have intensified airstrikes in Gaza in response to rocket fire from Palestinian territories. The humanitarian situation in Gaza has worsened, with international agencies warning of dwindling access to medical supplies, clean water, and fuel.

Meanwhile, international diplomatic efforts to broker a ceasefire have stalled. While the United Nations, Egypt, and Qatar have all called for de-escalation, no long-term solution has yet been agreed upon.

Global Response and Future Outlook

The United States and European Union have condemned attacks on Israeli civilians while calling for restraint from both sides. However, countries in the Arab world, including Iran and Turkey, have publicly expressed support for Palestinian resistance movements.

Hamas maintains that resistance, in all forms including military and civil disobedience, is the only path forward unless there is international recognition of Palestinian sovereignty and the removal of what they describe as apartheid-like policies in the region.

As tensions continue, both sides remain locked in a conflict that has drawn global attention but little tangible resolution.
