Hamas Says It Got Guarantees That Gaza War Has Ended
Hamas’s exiled Gaza leader Khalil al-Hayya announced that the group has received guarantees from mediators, including the United States, Turkey, and Arab states, confirming that the war in Gaza has ended. He said the deal ensures a complete halt to hostilities and a phased Israeli withdrawal from the territory.
Hostage and Prisoner Release
As part of the agreement, Hamas will release 20 living Israeli hostages within 72 hours of the ceasefire taking effect, followed by further exchanges. Israel is expected to release 250 Palestinian prisoners serving long terms and 1,700 others arrested since the start of the conflict. Hamas also claimed the accord secures the release of all Palestinian women and children in Israeli custody, along with the opening of the Egypt–Gaza crossing.
Unresolved Issues
The Israeli cabinet has already approved the ceasefire and hostage-release plan, but questions remain. Long-term arrangements for Gaza’s governance, security enforcement, and verification of guarantees are still unclear. International observers stress that while the deal signals progress, its success will depend on transparent monitoring and sustained cooperation.
