Gurugram Cops Probe: Tennis Star Radhika Yadav’s Murder by Father

In a shocking incident, national-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was shot and killed by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their home in Gurugram’s Sector 57 on July 10 according to the probe. The 25-year-old athlete was reportedly gunned down in a fit of rage linked to a dispute over her decision to start a tennis academy.

Academy Dispute at the Heart of the Crime

According to the police, the motive behind the murder appears to be the father’s dissatisfaction with Radhika’s independence and growing professional presence. Deepak Yadav allegedly wanted her to shut down the tennis academy she was running, reportedly feeling overshadowed and insulted by comments from relatives who joked that he was living off his daughter’s earnings. However, investigators revealed that he earned a stable income from his own businesses and dismissed the claims of financial dependence.

Fatal Shooting Inside the Home

The murder took place in the kitchen, where Deepak fired five rounds from his licensed .32-bore revolver. Three bullets struck Radhika, killing her on the spot. Her uncle Kuldeep Yadav later filed the police complaint. The weapon and spent cartridges were recovered from the scene by police officials. Deepak was arrested within hours and taken into custody for questioning.

Autopsy Suggests Different Narrative

An autopsy report has added new complexity to the investigation. While the FIR mentioned three gunshots fired into Radhika’s back, the autopsy confirmed four bullet wounds to the chest. This has raised questions about how the confrontation unfolded and whether Radhika faced her attacker at the time of the shooting. Forensic experts are reviewing the findings to match them with the sequence of events described by the accused.

Mother Present, But Unwell

Radhika’s mother, Manju Yadav, was reportedly at home when the shooting occurred but was said to be unwell and unable to intervene. Police are waiting to record her formal statement as part of the ongoing investigation. No external involvement or conspiracy is suspected at this stage.

The case has sent shockwaves through the sports community and across the country. Radhika, a promising athlete with several accolades in national tennis circuits, had been preparing to expand her role in coaching and youth development through her tennis academy.
