Gujarat Cabinet Reshuffled, Harsh Sanghavi Made Deputy CM

The Gujarat government carried out a major cabinet reshuffle on Friday. Harsh Sanghavi, MLA from Surat, was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.

New ministers take oath

A total of 26 ministers were sworn in, including Rivaba Jadeja, wife of cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, who entered the cabinet as one of the new faces. Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath.

Political strategy and balance

The reshuffle is viewed as a political reset ahead of local body elections and the 2027 assembly polls. The composition of the new cabinet reflects attempts to balance caste groups, regional representation from Saurashtra and Kutch, and a push for younger leaders.

About Sanghavi and Jadeja

Harsh Sanghavi, a three-time MLA born in 1985, has earlier managed key portfolios such as home and revenue. He becomes the sixth Deputy CM in Gujarat’s history.

Rivaba Jadeja, elected from Jamnagar North, joined the BJP in 2019 and has now been elevated as minister, adding both celebrity appeal and regional weight.
