Gujarat ATS Busts Terror Module, Three Arrested

The Gujarat Anti‑Terrorism Squad (ATS) announced on Sunday the arrest of three suspects — identified as Ahmed Mohiuddin Syed, Mohammad Suhel, and Azad — near the Adalaj toll plaza in Gandhinagar district. Officials said the trio were apprehended while supplying weapons and planning attacks in multiple parts of India. Seized from them were two Glock pistols, one Beretta pistol, 30 live cartridges, and four litres of castor oil.

Alleged Links and Radicalisation

According to the ATS, one of the accused, Syed, holds an MBBS degree earned in China and had established contact with a Telegram ID linked to the Islamic State – Khorasan Province (ISKP). The agency further alleged that he had initiated a process to extract ricin poison from castor-bean waste. The other two suspects are said to hail from Uttar Pradesh (Lakhimpur and Shamli) and were reportedly in contact with foreign handlers and part of “Deeni” educational environments.

Wider Significance

Security officials described the operation as a major success in pre-empting a “high-impact” terror plot. They cautioned that the arrests highlight the persistent threat of interstate terror modules and the importance of coordinated intelligence across states. Analysts note that while the arrests disrupt one conspiracy, the broader networks must still be dismantled to ensure lasting security.
