Greater Noida Residents Fall Ill Over Water Concerns

Several residents of Delta 1 sector in Greater Noida have reported falling ill over the past few days, with complaints ranging from diarrhoea and vomiting to stomach pain and weakness. Locals said the symptoms appeared after consuming drinking water supplied to the area. Many residents alleged that the water had an unusual colour and smell, raising concerns about possible contamination in the supply line.

Families said multiple members, including children and elderly residents, were affected, prompting some to seek immediate medical attention while others opted for home treatment.

Civic Authority Responds to Complaints

Following complaints from residents, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority inspected the water supply network in the area. Officials identified a damaged section of the pipeline, which they said may have allowed contamination to enter the system. Repair work was carried out, and the affected stretch of the pipeline was sealed.

Authorities also collected water samples from several locations in and around Delta 1. These samples have been sent for laboratory testing to determine whether contamination occurred and to identify its source.

Medical Camps and Advisory Issued

Health officials set up a medical camp in the locality to examine residents reporting symptoms. Several people were treated on site, while others were advised medication and rest. Officials said there was no report of severe or life-threatening cases.

As a precaution, residents have been advised to avoid drinking tap water until test results are available and to use boiled or packaged water instead. The incident has renewed concerns among locals about ageing water infrastructure and the need for regular monitoring to prevent similar episodes.
