Google Gemini App Adds AI Music Generation Feature

Google has introduced a new artificial intelligence music generation feature in its Gemini app, allowing users to create short custom tracks using text prompts, images, or videos. The update marks a significant expansion of Gemini’s creative capabilities for consumers.

Gemini AI Music Generation With Lyria 3 Model

The new music creation tool in the Gemini app is powered by Google’s latest generative AI model, Lyria 3. Users aged 18 and above can now type a description, upload a photo, video or provide a mood prompt, and Gemini will generate a 30-second original music track complete with instrumentals, vocals and lyrics.

The feature embeds an imperceptible digital watermark in all AI-generated tracks to support identification and transparency of AI-created content.

How Google Gemini Music Feature Works

Gemini’s AI music generator uses natural language prompts to translate user input into custom soundtracks. Users can specify musical elements such as genre, tempo and style, and the system will produce a corresponding track. The generated music also comes with custom cover art and can be downloaded or shared.

The feature supports multiple languages and is accessible to both free users and subscribers of Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra plans, with higher usage limits for paid tiers.

Gemini AI Music Integration And Availability

Music generation in the Gemini app is currently available in beta and rolling out first on desktop, with mobile support expected soon. The rollout spans languages including English, Hindi, Spanish, German and others, enabling global user access.

In addition to use within the Gemini app, the underlying music model is being integrated into tools like YouTube’s Dream Track for content creators to generate background music for videos.
