Goa Police Detain Co-Owner In Nightclub Fire Case

Goa Police have detained Ajay Gupta, a co-owner of the nightclub where a massive fire killed 25 people. He was picked up in Delhi after authorities issued a Look Out Circular against him. The detention comes days after the incident, which shocked the state and raised questions about safety standards at commercial establishments.

Search for remaining owners

Gupta is the sixth person detained so far in the case. Two other co-owners, identified as Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, are still missing. Police have requested assistance from international agencies through a Blue Corner Notice to trace them. Officials said more arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.

Safety violations under scrutiny

The nightclub had faced warnings in the past for illegal construction and lack of fire safety approvals. Inspections reportedly flagged structural risks, but the venue continued to operate. After the tragedy, authorities have ordered strict action against other establishments that may not meet safety norms.

Ongoing investigation

Police teams are reviewing documents, financial records and compliance reports linked to the club. Formal arrest procedures are expected soon. Officials said the priority is identifying why safety rules were ignored and whether more people were responsible for decisions that led to the loss of lives.
