Goa CM Promises Arrests After Deadly Club Fire
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that the Luthra brothers, owners of Birch by Romeo Lane where a fire killed 25 people, will be arrested. He announced that police will continue tracking them and that all those responsible will face action. A Blue Corner Notice has already been issued to trace the accused.
Detentions and demolition
Police have detained several people linked to the nightclub, including a co-owner and staff members. Officials said another property owned by the same businessmen has been demolished for illegal construction. The government said it would not allow any violations to go unchecked.
Safety lapses under investigation
Early findings from the probe show that the nightclub lacked proper fire safety systems, did not have all required permits and had been built in violation of land rules. Authorities said these failures may have contributed to the high number of deaths. Local officials admitted that previous warnings were ignored.
Statewide crackdown ordered
Sawant has directed the district administrations to conduct fresh audits of all clubs, bars and nightlife establishments. Safety certificates, structural permissions and emergency systems will now be rechecked. The Chief Minister said strict action, including closure, will follow against those not complying with safety norms.
