Germany Rout India 5-1 In Junior World Cup Semifinal

Defending champions Germany defeated India 5-1 in a one-sided semifinal at the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup in Chennai. The result ended India’s hopes of playing the final at home and sent Germany into the title clash.

Early Goals Set The Tone

Germany took control from the start. Lukas Kossel converted a penalty stroke in the 14th minute for the opening goal. Less than a minute later, a defensive error allowed Germany to score again, giving them a 2-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.

India struggled to keep possession and were unable to create chances in the circle. Germany continued to attack through quick passing and strong pressing.

Germany Extend Their Lead

In the second quarter, Kossel struck again from a penalty corner to make it 3-0. Jonas von Gersum added a fourth in the third quarter after a fast counter-attack through midfield. Early in the final quarter, Ben Hasbach scored Germany’s fifth, sealing the result.

India’s only goal came in the 51st minute when Anmol Ekka converted a penalty corner. It offered little consolation as Germany were already out of reach.

India To Play For Bronze

India will now play in the bronze medal match on December 10. Germany advance to the final and will face Spain. Coaches and analysts said India’s midfield turnovers, defensive lapses and lack of control in key phases allowed Germany to dominate the game.
