Gaza Conflict Inflicts Heavy Toll on Children

Two years into the Israel–Hamas war, children in Gaza remain the worst affected. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, over 67,000 Palestinians have been killed, with nearly one-third of the deaths being children.

Rising Hunger and Orphan Crisis

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics estimates that more than 39,000 children have been orphaned since the conflict began. Hunger has deepened the crisis, with at least 113 deaths from malnutrition, including 81 children, as food shortages worsen under blockade conditions.

Daily Life in Collapse

Almost the entire population of Gaza has been displaced. Schools remain shut, healthcare is near collapse, and sanitation facilities are failing. Strikes on shelters have further worsened conditions, such as the Daraj school attack that killed 36 people, including 18 children.

Global Calls for Action

Humanitarian groups warn that without urgent intervention, Gaza risks losing an entire generation. They highlight that children face long-term threats not only from hunger and violence but also from the loss of education and psychological trauma.
