Fresh Attack Hits Riyadh Airport, Several Wounded

A fresh missile attack struck Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on October 10, injuring multiple people and forcing authorities to suspend operations just two days after an earlier Houthi assault killed three Saudi nationals.

Fresh Attack Hits Riyadh Airport

The latest strike hit the airport’s passenger terminal, triggering explosions, evacuations and a temporary halt to flight operations.

Saudi aviation authorities confirmed that several people were wounded. At least some of the injured were reported to be in serious condition.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the latest attack, although it came amid a series of Houthi missile and drone strikes targeting Saudi aviation and infrastructure.

Airlines Cancel and Divert Flights

The attack caused major disruption to air travel, with international carriers cancelling, diverting or delaying flights to Riyadh.

Embassies including those of the United States, United Kingdom and Canada issued security advisories urging citizens to avoid the airport and remain alert to the risk of further attacks.

The disruption followed an October 8 Houthi attack on the same airport that killed three Saudi citizens, including a Saudia pilot, and damaged aircraft.

Saudi-Houthi Conflict Escalates Further

The renewed attacks come as fighting intensifies between the Houthis and Saudi-backed forces in Yemen.

The Houthis have declared Saudi airspace a military zone and threatened further strikes on airports and strategic infrastructure, while the Saudi-led coalition has responded with airstrikes against Houthi positions and missile facilities.

The escalation has increased concerns over civilian aviation and Saudi Arabia’s security as the conflict in Yemen expands into a wider regional confrontation.
