Former Pakistan Players Warn PCB Against T20 World Cup Boycott
Former Pakistan cricketers have cautioned the Pakistan Cricket Board against any move to boycott the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup following tensions linked to Bangladesh. They said withdrawing from the tournament would harm Pakistan’s cricketing interests and strain its relationship with the International Cricket Council.
Concerns Over Global Standing
The former players said a boycott would be damaging for Pakistan cricket, warning that it could lead to isolation in international cricket and reduce Pakistan’s influence within the ICC. They stressed that political or bilateral issues should not interfere with participation in global tournaments.
Advice to Resolve Issues Through Dialogue
The ex-cricketers urged the PCB to address concerns through dialogue with the ICC rather than taking extreme steps. They said maintaining constructive engagement with global cricket bodies is essential for the long-term growth of the sport in Pakistan.
PCB Yet to Take Final Call
The PCB has not announced a final decision on its participation. Officials have indicated that discussions are ongoing as the board assesses the broader implications of any action linked to the Bangladesh issue.
