Five Indians Rescued After Hormuz Tanker Strike

Five Indian nationals have been safely rescued and brought ashore after a Kuwait-flagged oil tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, amid continuing maritime security concerns in the region.

The Indian nationals were serving aboard the Kuwait-flagged tanker MT Kazimah III when the vessel was hit while passing through the strategic waterway.

India’s mission in Oman coordinated the rescue operation with local authorities, and all five Indians were safely moved ashore. No injuries among the rescued crew members have been reported.

The source and nature of the projectile have not yet been publicly established.

Tanker Hit Near Oman in Strait of Hormuz

Maritime authorities reported that the tanker was struck close to Oman while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

All crew members were reported safe following the incident, and there were no immediate indications of environmental damage from the strike.

The attack adds to a series of security incidents affecting commercial shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz amid continuing regional tensions.

India has been closely monitoring the safety of its nationals serving aboard commercial vessels across the Persian Gulf and surrounding waters.

More than 4,500 Indian seafarers are currently working aboard merchant vessels operating in the region, including Indians on active cargo ships exposed to heightened maritime risks.

India has also raised concerns internationally over attacks on commercial shipping, stressing that threats to merchant vessels endanger seafarers and disrupt global trade and energy flows.
