Firefox Adds New “AI Window” Browsing Mode
Mozilla has unveiled a new browsing option in Firefox called the “AI Window,” adding a third mode alongside Classic and Private windows. The AI Window integrates an opt-in AI assistant directly into the browser interface, allowing users to interact with a chatbot without leaving their browsing session. Mozilla emphasised that the feature is completely optional and can be enabled or ignored based on user preference.
Users Can Choose Their Preferred AI Model
A key highlight of the new mode is model choice. Instead of locking users into a single default assistant, Firefox will allow them to pick from multiple AI models. Mozilla says the feature is being developed with strict privacy protections and transparency at its core. The AI Window is currently in early access, and users can join a waitlist to test the feature before wider release.
Mozilla’s Push Into AI-Enhanced Browsing
The introduction of the AI Window marks Mozilla’s deeper move into AI-powered browsing tools, aiming to provide an alternative to browsers tied to big-tech ecosystems. While a full rollout timeline has not been announced, Mozilla plans additional updates and public testing phases in the coming months.
