EU Vows Support For Ukraine Amid Peace Talks

The European Union has said it will continue providing Ukraine with military assistance, financial support and diplomatic backing as peace negotiations move forward. European Council President António Costa confirmed that EU members have committed to meeting Ukraine’s financial needs for the next two years while maintaining weapons supplies.

Peace Negotiations Show Fresh Momentum

Costa said recent discussions in Geneva involving Ukraine, the EU and the United States have created “new momentum” in ongoing peace efforts. He noted that progress is visible but added that several critical issues still need resolution before any concrete agreement can be reached.

Challenges For EU Unity

Analysts say sustaining long-term assistance could test the EU’s internal unity as member states face pressure over defence spending and economic constraints. The debate over using frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine’s reconstruction also remains unresolved. EU leaders, however, reiterated that support for Kyiv will continue regardless of negotiations.
