Ericsson Expands India Manufacturing, Backs Vi’s 5G Rollout
Ericsson is intensifying its commitment to India by expanding local manufacturing and supporting Vodafone Idea’s (Vi) 5G network rollout, positioning the country as a key global telecom production hub.
Ericsson India Manufacturing
By June 2025, Ericsson aims to fully localize the production of passive antennas in India, enhancing value addition and enabling exports. The company is collaborating with VVDN Technologies in Gurgaon for antenna manufacturing and utilizing its Pune logistics hub for regional distribution. This expansion aligns with Ericsson’s strategy to diversify its global manufacturing footprint, which includes facilities in Mexico, Romania, and China.
Vodafone Idea 5G Rollout
Vodafone Idea is making significant strides in its 5G deployment, recently launching services in the Delhi NCR region using Ericsson’s high-performance radio solutions. The rollout is part of Vi’s broader plan to introduce 5G across all 17 priority circles by August 2025. Ericsson’s energy-efficient Radio System products are expected to enhance spectrum efficiency and optimize network performance, contributing to Vi’s efforts to regain market share.
Ericsson’s support for Vi’s 5G ambitions reflects a deepening partnership aimed at revitalizing India’s telecom sector. As global supply chains shift, India’s emergence as a credible alternative for telecom innovation and manufacturing is gaining momentum, with Ericsson playing a pivotal role in this transformation.
