Encounter Breaks Out During Kishtwar Search Operation

Security forces engaged suspected terrorists during a cordon-and-search operation in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the forested terrain.

Soldiers Injured in Exchange of Fire

The encounter began when the hiding terrorists opened fire on the search party. Grenades were also used during the exchange, resulting in injuries to several Army personnel. The injured soldiers were evacuated to a nearby medical facility and are reported to be in stable condition.

Multi-Agency Operation Underway

The operation involves the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and central armed police forces. Reinforcements were rushed to the area to strengthen the cordon and prevent the militants from escaping. Drones and other surveillance equipment are being used as the search continues.

Heightened Vigil in Jammu Region

Security has been intensified across parts of the Jammu region amid a recent uptick in militant activity. Officials said operations will continue until the area is fully sanitised.
