
Eleven Dead as Van Falls Into Well After Collision in MP
A tragic road accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district claimed eleven lives on Sunday when a van carrying devotees plunged into a water-filled agricultural well after colliding with a motorcycle. The incident occurred in the Narayangarh area, sending shockwaves across the region.
Authorities reported that the van was traveling at high speed towards the Aantri Mata Temple in Neemuch district when it struck a motorcyclist, killing him on the spot. Following the collision, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and crashed into a nearby well near Kachariya Chaupati.
Madhya Pradesh Accident Shocks Region
Among the deceased were nine devotees, including four women, as well as a local resident, Manohar Singh, who tragically lost his life while attempting to rescue those trapped in the sinking van. The victims belonged to different areas across Ujjain, Ratlam, and Mandsaur districts. Their families now grapple with sudden and devastating loss.
Rescue operations were swiftly launched with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local authorities, and village volunteers collaborating on site. A crane was deployed to retrieve the submerged van and recover the bodies of the deceased. The frantic rescue mission highlighted the urgent need for enhanced roadside safety measures, especially on rural roads connecting smaller towns.
Mandsaur Van Crash Prompts Official Response
Four individuals survived the accident and were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals. Among them were two children who heartbreakingly lost their parents in the mishap. Medical staff are providing psychological and physical care to the survivors as they recover from the trauma.
Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda personally visited the accident site to oversee the rescue operations and meet the grieving families. He announced that Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has ordered financial compensation to be provided to the families of those killed and injured. The government has also promised to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident to ascertain any lapses in road safety measures.
The tragedy has reignited discussions around highway safety, over-speeding, and the urgent need for better infrastructure and emergency response mechanisms in Madhya Pradesh’s rural areas.
