EC Calls Congress “Vote Theft” Claim Factually Incorrect
The Election Commission of India (EC) has officially called the Congress party’s allegations of “vote theft” and manipulation of electoral rolls factually incorrect. The commission rejected claims, made notably by Rahul Gandhi, that elections were compromised through bogus registrations or deleted voter names.
EC Emphasizes Transparency in Voter Roll Revision
In response to the claims made during a protest by opposition INDIA bloc members, the EC shared documentation, video records, and testimonials from party representatives present during the revision of voter rolls in states like Bihar. The commission said these efforts are transparent and followed due process.
Opposition Reacts to EC’s Rejection
Congress leaders, including Shashi Tharoor, criticized the EC’s focus on procedural formalities—such as demanding affidavits—instead of addressing substantive concerns. Meanwhile, party supporters continued to call for a full audit of the electoral revision process and clarity on alleged irregularities.
