EAM Jaishankar to Represent India at Donald Trump’s Inauguration on January 20

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is set to represent India at the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Donald J. Trump, who will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20. The ceremony will take place at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., where Trump will take the presidential oath administered by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.

During his visit, Jaishankar is expected to engage with members of the incoming U.S. administration and other dignitaries attending the event. This engagement underscores the importance India places on its strategic partnership with the United States, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties across various sectors, including defense, trade, and technology.

The inauguration ceremony will commence with the swearing-in of Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, followed by Donald Trump’s oath of office. The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies has themed the event “Our Enduring Democracy: A Constitutional Promise,” honoring the Founders’ commitment to safeguarding the democratic system for future generations.
