
DRDO Weapons Played Key Role in Operation Sindoor: Rajnath Singh
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said weapons and systems developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation played a decisive role in the success of Operation Sindoor. Speaking at the 68th Foundation Day celebrations of DRDO in New Delhi, Singh said indigenous defence technologies significantly boosted the confidence and operational effectiveness of the armed forces during the mission.
Emphasis on indigenous defence capability
The Defence Minister highlighted the importance of self reliance in defence production and said DRDO’s growing contribution reflects India’s progress towards technological autonomy. He said modern warfare requires advanced and reliable systems, and stressed that DRDO’s work has strengthened India’s preparedness across multiple domains.
Focus on future air defence systems
Singh reiterated the government’s focus on developing an integrated air defence shield under the Sudarshan Chakra initiative, which aims to provide comprehensive protection to critical installations. He urged DRDO scientists to accelerate work on next generation air defence technologies and ensure timely delivery of key projects.
Collaboration and innovation stressed
The minister also underlined the need for closer collaboration between DRDO, industry, academia and startups to build a robust defence innovation ecosystem. He said improving processes and encouraging innovation would help make defence research faster, more efficient and globally competitive. Singh called on scientists to continue learning, adapt to emerging technologies and identify new areas of strategic importance.
