DRDO Successfully Tests Two Pralay Missiles

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully carried out a salvo launch of two indigenously developed Pralay missiles from the same launcher off the coast of Odisha on December 31, 2025. The flight-tests were conducted around 10:30 am as part of user evaluation trials and both missiles met their flight objectives, with tracking sensors and telemetry systems confirming their intended trajectories.

Pralay missile capabilities tested

Pralay is a solid propellant quasi-ballistic missile designed and developed in India with advanced guidance and navigation systems to ensure high precision. It is capable of carrying different types of warheads and is intended to strengthen India’s tactical strike capabilities. The tests were overseen by scientists and engineers from DRDO, representatives from the Indian Air Force and Indian Army, and partner industries involved in development and production.

Officials praise test success

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO teams, Defence Public Sector Undertakings, the armed forces and industry partners on the successful quick succession launches, saying the result demonstrated the missile’s reliability. DRDO’s Chairman Samir V Kamat said the tests indicate that the system is nearing readiness for induction with user services.
